About myself (and the site)
You’ll be surprised to learn that the author of this site is an anarchist. He is also a historian and a generally insufferable know-it-all. He also occasionally refers to himself in the third person, a habit picked up from long use of IRC and its ACTIONs.
If you’ve heard of me somewhere, chances are it’s in relation to either OpenLeaks or WikiLeaks, two projects with a focus on giving people access to more information. I’ve been a spokesman for OpenLeaks and was outed as a former WikiLeaks volunteer by Wired shortly after leaving that organisation. My role in both organisations has chiefly been as a mediator of information; talking to those on the outside about why the projects are needed and what’s going on. I did some limited analysis work for WikiLeaks, but that quickly got swamped by general developments.
The thing is, analysis is what I’d prefer to do. I’m not at my strongest when analysing immediate political events, but I’ve dabbled in it. Instead, there’ll be stuff here describing a somewhat abstract theory of state that I’m working on. It’s mostly a synthesis of the stuff that’s inspired me, taking cues from amongst others historical sociology, anarchist theorists and cyberneticists. It’s a pretty unusual mix that has made more than one person stop and think — which is all I’m after.
The website is, as most all of them are, under construction at present. It’s built using tools that are not entirely mainstream, which means adding features is pretty much dependent on what I can manage to figure out. I expect to set up categories/tags for the posts so they won’t get entirely lost, but that’s not done yet.
If you’re curious, the font used here is called Gentium, and it’s open source. And since you’ve had the patience to read this far, let me point you to my GnuPG key, which is mildly useful for communicating with me. ID 667A8584, FP 3C63 A2B2 7C4E D952 601C 3320 2CAF E96E 667A 8584. You shouldn’t rely on it unless you’ve verified thoroughly, but then computer security is really just a great big oxymoron…
